Greener, more inclusive and polycentric cities. These are the metropolises imagined in the children's book Lettere dalle città del futuro, written by Beppe Sala, mayor of Milan, and published by DeA Planeta Libri.
Inspired by messages received over the years and by the dialogue with the city mayors worldwide, Sala tells to young people about the challenges and opportunities that await them.
The book is an imaginary correspondence with teenagers and adolescent from the future, coming from different European cities. It all begins with the mysterious appearance in Palazzo Marino of a letter dated February 20, 2031. From that moment on, the mayor's letter box becomes a sort of time machine that projects us into a future where many of today efforts, have triggered big changes in terms of traffic, urban green areas, construction and recycling.
Imagination is the key word of the book, in which Sala invites young people to train their ability to dream of their future, to be able to act now and build more and more smart cities.
The future is now!
